SEEDS and BULBS
Fennel
FennelFennel thrives best in sunny locations, relatively sheltered from the north and frost and at temperatures ranging between 18-25 degrees Celsius to have satisfactory growth. Although fennel does not have special soil requirements, for its planting we will choose topsoil rich in organic matter and perlite in order to achieve satisfactory ventilation and good drainage. Fennel can be planted directly from seed in the pot or with ready-made fennel seedlings that we will get from a nursery. If we plant fennel seed in the pot, it should be done at a depth of 1-2 centimeters and ensure temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius.
Marjoram
MarjoramMarjoram is a perennial aromatic and medicinal plant, a cousin of oregano, that grows in semi-mountainous and mountainous parts of the Mediterranean countries. With a growth of about half a meter, marjoram is characterized by upright stems, small round ash-green leaves and small white-pink flowers that appear at the ends of the stems. Marjoram has no special soil requirements, as long as the soil has very good drainage. It prefers relatively sunny positions and is particularly resistant to cold. Marjoram is considered a xeric crop and can withstand high temperatures. Suitable time for planting marjoram is in spring and early autumn. We plant at distances of 30-40 cm between the plants, while if we plant it in a rock garden we choose a position near oregano and thyme. For marjoram plants in a pot, we make sure to place them in a place with western or northern exposure and we get general-purpose potting soil or more special for aromatic plants.
Parsley Curly
Parsley CurlyParsley is one of the most favorite herbs that we grow in the garden and also in a pot on our balcony. It stands out for its wonderfully aromatic leaves that we cut fresh to use in salads, in pies and in special cooking recipes. Although it is a biennial vegetable, parsley is usually grown as an annual plant. Parsley has a high nutritional value, as it has a high content of antioxidants and vitamins. Parsley needs fertile soil with good drainage and rich in nutrients, so we enrich the soil we have with compost, manure and organic fertilizer to improve its fertility. Parsley prefers cool weather, in sunny places with temperatures of 10-20°C.

During the summer season, we should secure semi-shady places for the parsley, in order for it to have better growth and not to develop premature flowering shoots.
Lettuce Red Lola
Lettuce Red LolaLola is a cold season plant that grows best in low temperature conditions. Ideal growth temperature is 14-19°C, while high temperatures cause the early development of the flowering shoot. When planted in autumn, winter and spring we look for a sunny position on the balcony, while in the summer months it is more shaded. Also, we choose a relatively sheltered position from the strong north winds of winter. We must point out that the lola is less tolerant of very low temperatures than the classic lettuces, of the romana variety. cultivation of lettuce can be combined with strawberry, cucumber, onion, garlic, radish and tomato and thus result in very efficient crops. For example, between the lettuces planted every 30 cm, we can plant onion heads or garlic cloves to complement our salad with spring onions and garlic.
Lavender
LavenderLavender is one of the most famous aromatic plants that we plant in pots and is a basic plant found in every garden on a balcony. There are many reasons to plant lavender in a pot, as apart from its beauty it is a plant with multiple uses. Lavender grows best in sunny locations on the balcony and is drought tolerant. We prefer a balcony with south or west exposure so that our lavenders have good growth and flowering. We plant lavender in deep pots with a diameter and height of at least 30 cm, as lavender has a strong root system that goes deep and shows rapid growth.
