Aromatic Plants: In what ways can we enrich our garden?
Aromatic plants are characterized by their strong and pleasant smell. Aromatic plants are the plants that contain strong aromatic substances, the essential oils. Many aromatic plants also have medicinal-therapeutic properties. Aromatic substances are found in the roots (eg garlic and onion), the leaves (sage, basil, rosemary), the wood (cinnamon) or the seeds (coriander). Aromatic plants in gardens are usually shrubs, bulbs or annuals. They can be used in gardens as low hedges, in borders (to add color with their flowers or foliage), in rock gardens or in a vegetable garden, combined with other crops to keep insects away. Finally, aromatic plants decorate our balconies in pots or flower beds.
