February
During February we can change the pots for any plants that need changing. We clean their pots and saucers well so that in the spring there are no hot spots favorable for the growth and multiplication of insects and diseases. We collect the fallen leaves and fruits that have gathered on the ground so that there are no outbreaks of diseases and insects in our garden with the first warm days of spring. We prune any plant that needs pruning to correct its shape and size. We cut all injured branches because they are foci of infection. It is the right time to prune fruit trees and climbing plants. We can also start planting flower (eg petunias, pansies, dogwood) and herb seeds now in shallow containers to keep indoors until they reach the 4-leaf stage. At the 4-leaf stage we can safely transplant them into pots or into the garden. Finally, we have to plant the spring bulbs in our garden (liliums, dahlias, gladioli, amaryllis) by the end of the month or at the latest in the first ten days of March.
